Wayne State University Population Model Worksheet

Please view explanation and answer below.

Population Model: Texas
Description:
Texas is the most populous state in the U.S.A. In 1920, its population was about 4.7 million
but in 2020, it has risen to 29.2 million. The population has increased over 6 times over 100
years.
Earlier, the human population was controlled by plague, incurable diseases, or other factors.
But after the research and study of various diseases and their successful trial in medicine,
advancements in technology to detect natural calamities and early evacuation, an increase in
agricultural productivity using chemicals and fertilizers to sustain the food demand for the
rapidly increasing population led to a very low death rate as compared to the growth rate.
The discrepancy in the death rate and the growth rate increases the population at a much
more rapid rate, such growth is seen in an exponential function, hence I chose the
population to be described by an exponential function.
According to the data provided by the United States Census Bureau, the following data was
obtained for Texas over 100 years.
