1.) What lessons can we learn and apply in our own lives today from the French choosing to befriend and work with the Native Americans as allies in North America in the 1600s rather than immediately attempting to fight them like the English and Spanish did?
2.) Imagine yourself living in the not-too-distant future when there are multiple colonies on the planet Mars, and thousands of people currently living there (enough for small towns and cities, but still a largely open world). Recent reports returning to earth suggest that Mars is abundant in precious metals like platinum, gold, silver, etc that you can mine and keep. Assuming you couldn’t afford the cost of a 9 month trip to Mars, and someone offered to pay your way in exchange for being their indentured servant for 7 years once you arrived, would you do it? Why or why not? Support your reasoning with evidence from the lectures and/or textbook.
