Socialization refers to the process by which people learn and internalize the values,
beliefs, and customs of their social groups through which they become active societal
members (Ferris and Stein 2018). Thus, based on this interpretation, socialization represents
the ways groups or societies influence individuals to be functional members and the process
through which people learn and adopt societal norms. Therefore, according to Ferris and
Stein (2018), socialization plays two core functions: teaching people the crucial skills to meet
human needs and overcome danger and enlightening individuals about their cultural customs
to adhere to collective ways of life.
